We give the patient the opportunity to get different testings available to them. Nowadays, people are very sensitive to the environment and different chemicals, so we have biocompatibility testings. We draw blood and then we can see what materials your immune system is going to be reactive to or maybe be more compatible.
So that way, we give you the opportunity to choose from all the dental materials available, which one would be maybe the most compatible to you. So in the year 2000, I was trained for two years to learn how to do implants. At that time in history, the only available opportunity to put an implant was titanium.
Now as time has evolved, materials have also evolved, and for the last 17 years, we have offered the patients the opportunity to choose a different material, which is called zirconia. So the advantage of zirconia is that it’s going to have, instead of 100 percent metal, it’s going to have 0.04 percent metal. Many dentists, you know, they say they’re mercury-free because they’re no longer placing mercury inside a patient’s mouth.
There’s a different kind of dentist that also, not only they do not use mercury, but also they remove the mercury fillings that a patient may have in a safer way. That means that the patient is going to have oxygen, they are going to be using rubber dams, and there’s going to be a SMART protocol followed with airway and vacuums to protect the patient from getting the toxins from the mouth, bacteria and metals, not to touch the tissues or the patient inhale that into their bodies. Our philosophy and our practice as a holistic biological dentistry is that we know that everything is connected.
So when you are a fetus and you’re developing, you’re developing in layers. So, you know, from the feet to the brain, everything is going to be connected. That’s why women love pedicures, because when you stimulate the feet, the other organs get stimulated.
Now, in Asia, China and different countries, they’re more familiarized with the connection of the organs and the teeth, because in America is something more educational happening now that people are getting educated. But the meridians means that there’s a connection between everything in the body, connects with everything. So if somebody has like a toothache that is connected to the eye, sometimes the patient said, my eye is twitching.
So, or somebody has a toothache that is, you know, the tooth is connected to the lymphatic system. Now people are connecting the dots. So we have patients that never knew that information, and many doctors are getting educated about it.
So we’re really excited to share with our patients charts of meridians as an educational item. You know, it’s not formally trained in the dental schools or the medical schools here. It’s more an alternative kind of medicine.

Embrace a Healthier Smile With Safe Fillings
Cavities shouldn’t be taken lightly. They can lead to more serious dental problems in the future. That’s why you need to visit our practice for regular dental checkups. Our team will use advanced technology to spot cavities in their earliest stages. If we spot issues, your dentist will use composite fillings to restore your tooth.
Plus, as a biological holistic dentist and a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, Dr. Cintron can also safely remove old amalgam fillings. She will use a protocol developed to avoid mercury exposure during the removal process.
Composite fillings offer a range of advantages over traditional metal fillings:
- Natural Appearance – Composite fillings match your tooth color and become virtually invisible in your mouth.
- Preserve More Tooth Structure – These fillings can bond directly to your tooth. This means more of your healthy tooth structure stays intact.
- Mercury-Free – Unlike metal fillings, composite fillings contain no mercury. You can feel good knowing you’re choosing a safe, non-toxic option.
- Versatility – Composite material can repair chips and small cracks in addition to filling cavities. It’s a flexible solution for various dental issues.
- Less Sensitivity – Composite fillings don’t contract in heat and cold like metal ones. You’ll experience less sensitivity when enjoying hot or cold foods and drinks.

White fillings are made out of either composite resin, a blend of ceramic and plastic, or porcelain. We can match the color of these materials to your other teeth so they will look completely natural in your smile. Unlike amalgam (metal) fillings, white fillings don’t contain mercury. So they’re a good choice for patients who prefer to avoid mercury.
Amalgam fillings contain a blend of metals, including mercury. While both the FDA and the American Dental Association say mercury in fillings is safe for most people, some research has linked mercury to adverse health effects. We feel it’s best to play it safe by using composite fillings. Since we can match composite to the color of your tooth, they also look more natural than metal fillings.
After your dentist places your new filling, you should expect it to last for several years without any problems. Composite fillings last an average of about five to seven years, although other factors do come into play, including which tooth has the filling and the types of foods you eat.
